Day One: Rimu Year 7/8s Visit Cave Stream & Arthur's Pass!

Full of beans and ready to go caving! The initial neck deep water didn't faze anyone and we plunged through to about 300m. Turned back as it was a very strong flow; therefore quite slow going.
Wetsuits, jackets, helmets and head torches - we're set!
Seal of approval from Jacob!

First meal in - tables all set by 'the dining room crew'.

Bella, Prudence & Paige enjoying Nachos for tea.

Cleaning time...

Zac is a great mopper...once he stops talking...

After tea we walked for an hour twenty, from Jack's Hut back to the Lodge. Logan told us about lots of cool plants; some that we can eat; some that we can decorate our faces for war paint and some that are poisonous - fascinating stuff!
Jack discovered this cool stump off trail!

"Sundew is a carnivorous plant that is like a venus fly trap but it traps flies with sticky stuff that acts like glue that is  actually our stomach acid. It catches victims with this stomach acid. Once the bug is on it, the sundew produces more stomach acid that eventually traps the bug. Once it's stuck the sundew literally sucks the energy out of it," explains Jacob.

We're on a mish to find heart shaped rocks...#1!

Sphagnum moss - so squishy!

    2. Hi Jade,
That was so fun, my favorite part of camp was the sneaky trail and cave stream. The sneaky trail is when you are blindfolded for 300m and have to find your way using just a rope.

Cave Stream is when you have walk in a cave that has been carved out by a stream. We walked against the current over rocks and waterfalls.
