We're Going to be on TV!

A What Now film team came to see us today. Luis and Simon were here to film us playing Ki-O-Rahi, a fantastic traditional Maori ball game.

This all came about because last year our Student Council helped introduce the game to our school and to other schools in our cluster. Ki-O-Rahi has been played in the North Island for years but it is fairly new for the South Island and our children were instrumental in teaching others about the game.

Hannah was the host for the segment and she did a fantastic job. We learnt a lot about programme making, especially about how a 3 minute segment can take up to 3-5 hours to film and about how many takes have to be done in order for them to get the right shots.

We can't wait to see the finished segment. We don't know when it will be on yet but we'll let you all know once we do.

  1. Kia ora Rimu,
That is so exciting, I am really looking forward to viewing the article. Hannah I always knew you were going to be a star. 3-4 hours seems like a lot of time to just to make a 3 minute segment I bet you were all very tired after the filming. What was the difficult part that required you to do more takes?

  2. Bonjour Rimu, I'm Lavinia in Hauraki at Waikowhai Primary School. I really like how you described what you will be doing. I also like how you get the opportunity to do this. I mean that is great!!! What you could think about next time is like to write just like a statement to summarise the blog post at the end, other than that Ka Pai. If you want to see my blog here is the site, wpslaviniac.blogspot.co.nz. I can't wait to see more of your work, keep it up. See ya later!!!

  4. Hi Rimu class,
    It's Amanda here!

I really like the idea of being filmed,
but 3-4 hours for just 3 minutes sounds kinda long.
A big well done to Hannah,
    that must have been hard!
I really like the description but maybe next time, you could explain what Ki-O-Rahi is.
    Nice blogging with you!

    Amanda
