Hooked on Books - Day 4

Yesterday we became illustrators. The book we were illustrating was The First Hippo on the Moon by David Walliams. That's why we couldn't open the box till 2.45pm, as Mrs Spragg and Mrs Taylor wanted us to think about our own ideas for the story without being influenced by the pictures in the book.
We used batik to create our illustrations. This is a technique where we use a paste that will act as a barrier to paint, to outline our drawings.

Once we have then painted them and the paint has dried, we pick off the paste leaving behind our master pieces. We have had to let our flour and water paste dry overnight so today we will paint them. Should be lots of fun!
So it's Day 4 of Hooked on Books Week and the box is just waiting for someone to open it. We know it doesn't have chocolate inside, we know it's a book but the question is which book? Our class is buzzing with excitement and we can't wait to find out!
