Te Wā Tuku Reo Māori - Māori Language Moment 2021!

Today at 12pm Rimu joined a LOT of other New Zealanders and took part in the World Record attempt for having the most people speak an endangered and indigenous language at the same time.

This was called Māori Language Moment 2021

and last year over 1 million moments were recorded.

Here's a short video of all you had to do, explaining how it works!

We were lucky because at 12pm on Tuesday's we have our Kapa Haka session so wet set it up with our tutor, Matua Anton, and took part in this amazing movement!

Here is our moment that we shared on the reomaori.co.nz website -

And here we are, famous on the 'Share your Moment' page on the website!

Can you spot our post?!

Did you take part in Te Wā Tuku Reo Māori this year or last year?

What did you do?
OR

Treasure Beyond Measure

Last Friday in Level 3 Lockdown, Rimu had a visit from

Helen Griffiths

She is the Author from Treasure Beyond Measure, a New Zealand children's book.

We were able to ask Helen lots of questions, she did a quiz with us about collective nouns, and she also read her book to us.

We learnt a lot about conservation, collective nouns and illustrating a book!

The pictures in this one are amazing!

Here are some of our thoughts -

"I learnt that we should save the world and about conservation." - Max

"I learnt a lot about that a group of fish is a school. I also found it really fun and interesting because she made it rhyme." - Sahil

"What I found interesting is that we all learnt something that we didn't already know." - Nishka

"Something that I found interesting was that she had a lot of other jobs and she wasn't just an author. Something that I learnt is that groups of animals can be called a lot of strange things." - Amelia

"What I found interesting was how she added a globe to each page and try to make it fun." - Zahrah

Have you read Treasure Beyond Measure?

Did you know Helen used to be a teacher?

What collective nouns do you know?
- Write them in the comments!
