In Rimu Class we are always trying to educate ourselves and practise doing the right thing, even when we don't like someone or something annoys us.
It's hard - but important because we want to live happy and fulfilling lives.
This week we have talked about being an upstander, not a bystander.
We learnt there were 4 upstanding things we can do instead of doing NOTHING.
1) Be a Buddy!
2) Interrupt
3) Speak Out: This one takes TONNES of courage. "That's mean - don't do that."
4) Tell Someone
For more detail, watch below!
So go on and encourage others to be upstanders too!
What a great set of ideas. Sometimes being a buddy can be hard. I guess that the hard times are when we need buddies the most. Plus it does take courage to be a buddy but I know that YMS students can be courageous. And yes - Always tell someone!
ReplyDeleteDo you wonder if bullying stems from unhappiness?
Great ideas folks. Kepp them coming.
Hi Rimu class my name is Catherine I am a Year 4 in R8 at CTK in Auckland, you can call me Cathy for short I liked the way you made this slide show - it is really good for those who have been bullied as it gives them ideas on how to deal with this problem. Thanks for that

Hi Rimu Class,
ReplyDeleteThat is really cool to see that you are working on being an Upstander, then being a bystander. My class room six was also working on why be an upstander then being a bystander, it actually made me think about what I am a bystander or an upstander. I think that I am a upstander than a bystander.I will encourage other students in my class to become a upstander if they were being a bystander. I also like the set of ideas you have put in.
Kind Regards,
Myah
