National Young Leaders Day

Last week 7 senior students attended the National Young Leaders Day. This event is for students who show potential as leaders. There are a number of great speakers and they follow a theme.

This year the theme was
E kore au e ngaro, he kākano i ruia mai i Rangiātea. Tomokia e te toki.
I will never be lost, for I am a seed born of greatness. Pick up your toki.

It was a great theme, with each speaker working through the theme.
The students had their favourites and different things stood out to them. It was a pretty cool event and you can read more about it by heading to the blogs of Shukoor, Cayde, Base, Zac, Prudence, Bella and Hannah.
Here are some photos of the day:

The stage and all the students. It was pretty exciting and noisy!

We each got a notebook and most of us used it.

Nomad! They were awesome - such incredible voices. Mrs Spragg was quite impressed.

Base really wanted to go down and join the crowd.

These guys didn't.

The girls thought the day was pretty cool.

  1. It is great to see that you are taking leadership seriously. It is great to see that you are learning about leadership as there are many skills involved. I have learnt that it is important to stay on top of things which means working very hard until something is finished. I know you are just the team to be able to do this.

  2. Hi William,
Thank you for commenting on our blog. We like suggestions
for our work and if you liked us semi-explaining what the photos were of
then we might just keep doing it.

My class is doing a Novel Study. In Room 3 last year my teacher read it to my class. This year i’m doing it on The princess and the foal by Stacy Gregg. I liked the book Hatchet. It was interesting how Brian survived. Did you enjoy this book?

Your photos for NYLD looked really cool and it looked like a lot of fun. Where was your NYLD at? I went to it as well but ours was in Dunedin. Who was your favourite speaker? Mine was Matt Brown he was really cool.
